Itinerary:
1st
day. MADRID - BURGOS - SAN SEBASTIAN
Departure from our BUS TERMINAL: Parking Oriente Sq., at 9.00 a.m., (or pick
up at hotel) to Burgos. Free time for visiting the famous cathedral and/or
for lunch on your own in it many typical tapas restaurants and bars where
you taste a large selection of mouthwatering and affordable appetizers. (Not included).
Departure to San Sebastián. Free
time to walk along the inviting city with its famous horse-shoe shape bay and
beautiful Art Nuevo buildings. Overnight in San Sebastian.
2nd
day. SAN SEBASTIAN - BILBAO - CASTRO URDIALES - SANTANDER
Breakfast. Panoramic sightseeing and departure to Bilbao. Free time to visit
the Guggenheim Museum on your own or treat yourself to some of the tapas in
Spain's gourmet capital. Drive to the atmospheric oceanside town of Castro
Urdiales where you can have lunch in one of the many seafood restaurants.
Continue on to Santander, the contender of San Sebastian in beauty with its long
sandy shoreline circled around by cloud-covered hills.
Afternoon at leisure. Overnight.
3rd
day. SANTANDER - SANTILLANA - COVADONGA - OVIEDO
Breakfast and departure to a typical village, Santillana with medieval
houses made of granite stone. Stroll around the Medieval streets or visit the
unique torture museum in your free time. Continue on to Covadonga a mountain
hideaway of old legends. Sightseeing (free time to visit the church and the
grotte of the Virgin Mary) and typical lunch. Departure to Oviedo.
Free time to visit the city, an important stop for the pilgrims to Santiago de
Compostella. Overnight in Oviedo.
4th
day. OVIEDO - GIJON - LUGO
Breakfast and departure to Gijón, a former old Roman town (panoramic
sightseeing). Continue to the
charming village of Cudillero where you'll have free time for a delicious
fisherman lunch or if you have energy, for a climb up to the top of the mountain
on a labyrinth of village stairs and tiny flower gardens to the lookout from
where you'll have a spectacular view of this romantic inlet village and the surrounding
mighty ocean. Continue to Lugo famous for its original Roman walls that still
surround this ancient city.
Overnight.
5th
day. LUGO - LA CORUÑA - SANTIAGO
Breakfast. Departure to La Coruña. Panoramic sightseeing around the
important fishing harbor and the original Roman lighthouse. Free time.
Optional tour to some old villages of the Rias Altas shore, where fjords meet
with wide rivers creating a special biosphere. Departure to Santiago. Overnight
in Galicia's Baroque Pilgrimage center, a second Vatican.
6th
day. SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA
After breakfast, morning sightseeing tour of the
monumental city. Visit the world famous cathedral where pilgrims have been
gathering since the Middle Ages. Afternoon at leisure to wander around its
arcaded streets, try some of the specialty restaurants or visit the several
museums, monasteries and churches
the city is famous for.
7th
day. SANTIAGO - RIAS BAJAS - LA TOJA - VIGO
Breakfast in Santiago. Trip through the most charming area of the Galician Rías Bajas in order to reach La Toja Island.
Optional boat tour to visit the several mussel and seashell growing farms and
taste the freshest mussels ever. Free time on La Toja island, then continue to
Vigo, one of the largest harbors in Spain. Afternoon optional tour to Celtic the
archeological site of ancient of Santa Tegro Castro and the southernmost
point of Galicia, A Guarda from where you'll have a spectacular view over the
Minho river and Portugal on its opposite shore. Overnight in Vigo.
8th
day. VIGO - PUEBLA DE SANABRIA - MADRID
Breakfast and departure to Orense and Puebla de Sanabria. Free time for
lunch and
departure to Madrid in order to arrive in our BUS TERMINAL.
(some departures could have overnight in Bilbao instead of San
Sebastian)
